The school is organised into
three classes : Infants ( Early Years + Years 1&2 ),
Lower Juniors ( Years 3&4
), and Upper Juniors ( Years 5&6 ). Nursery and Reception form the Early
Years section and are supported by a Nursery Assistant.
Other staff are essential to
the day to day running of the school, and these include : a part time secretary,
catering staff, a mid-day supervisor and a
caretaker.
Mr D. W. Davies
B.Ed.(Hon)
David Davies teaches years 5 and 6 children who are aged between 9 and 11 years of age.
He
has been Headteacher of Pontfadog School for 9 years and takes great pride
and joy in seeing the children develop through the school classes. As
Headteacher, David is responsible for the smooth running of the school
He runs various Dragon Sports Clubs both during and after school, which include Football, Rugby and Athletics.
Mrs E. Hughes
Elaine Hughes teaches years 3 and 4, aged between 7 and 9 years of age.
As well as assisting Mr. Davies with the running of the school, Elaine is subject leader for Maths, Welsh, RE and is the Special Needs Coordinator.
Elaine runs after school clubs in Art and Gardening.
Her dedication to the school can be demonstrated by her roles as Teacher-Governor and as one of the trustees of the school PTA, which is a registered charity.
Elaine enjoys producing the school's many productions and is generally responsible for the scenery, props and for directing the shows.
Mrs L. Roberts
Leslie Roberts teaches years 1 and 2. The reception class and pre-school nursery (12:45 to 3:15 daily) also fall under her responsibility.
Leslie is the subject leader for English, Early Years, Art,
Geography and PE. She is a keen sportswoman and enjoys playing and promoting
sport at Pontfadog School. Leslie is responsible for the Dragon Sports Netball
Club and coaches the school's Netball team.
